2023-05-24
Agilent 34970A is a high-performance, low-cost data acquisition and switch host, ideal for data logging, data acquisition, and general switching and control applications. It is a half-rack width host with a built-in 6 1/2-digit (22-bit) digital multimeter, and features 3 slots on the rear panel that can accommodate any combination of switch and control modules. Whether you only need a few simple data logging channels or hundreds of ATE-grade channels, the Agilent 34970A meets your data acquisition requirements at a reasonable price.
Keysight integrates the industry's most classic benchtop digital multimeter as the measurement engine into the 3-slot chassis of the Agilent 34970A/34972A, and this system delivers general-purpose inputs with built-in signal conditioning and modular flexibility through its compact chassis. In particular, the time-proven Agilent measurement performance will bring you substantial benefits. It features 6 1/2-digit (22-bit) resolution, 0.004% basic DCV accuracy and ultra-low reading noise. Combined with a scan rate of up to 250 channels per second, it delivers the speed and accuracy you need, helping you achieve more with less effort.
Keysight 34970A Data Acquisition Modules Integrate Multiple Measurement Functions
The Agilent 34970A includes the functional features of a benchtop digital multimeter (DMM), and you will benefit from proven Agilent performance, general-purpose inputs with signal conditioning, all at low cost, in a compact data acquisition structure. The 34970A features 6 1/2-digit resolution (22-bit), 0.004% basic DC voltage accuracy and extremely low reading noise. With a scan rate of up to 250 channels per second, you get the speed and accuracy required to get the job done. Powerful adaptability: The unique design of the Agilent 34970A allows per-channel configuration for maximum flexibility and quick and easy setup of internal automatic ranging. The DMM has 11 different direct measurement functions, eliminating the need for expensive external signal conditioning. The inter
nal temperature conversion program can display raw thermocouple, RTD or thermistor inputs in °C, °F or Kelvin. Scaling allows the output of linear sensors to be directly converted to engineering units. You can even set up high/low out-of-tolerance conditions.
With 3 module slots and 8 switch and control modules, you can configure the Agilent 34970A to meet your unique needs. You can purchase only what you need at the time, and add more modules later as your applications evolve. A single half-rack unit can measure up to 120 input channels. Free Agilent software simplifies data acquisition: If you require PC-based data logging capability but don't want to spend time programming, Agilent software solves this problem. Use this software to set up your tests, acquire and archive measurement data, and display and analyze the obtained data in real time. The familiar spreadsheet environment makes it easy to configure and control tests, and rich color graphics provide many options for displaying your data, all at the click of a button. You can create various graphs using bar charts, histograms, X-Y scatter plots and indicator alarms. In addition, Data Logger makes it easy to export data to other applications for further analysis, or include it in your displays and reports.
When configured with the Agilent 34901A 20-channel relay multiplexer, the 34970A becomes a compact, low-cost data logger that is ideal for fast testing in the laboratory or field. The intuitive panel with self-guided menus and the bright, easy-to-read vacuum fluorescent display make standalone setup fast and convenient. All readings are automatically time-stamped and stored in a 50,000-reading non-volatile memory, which is enough to store valuable data for a week (20 channels scanned every 5 minutes). Non-volatile memory retains data after power loss, allowing you to capture data with the 34970A and upload it to a PC later. System configuration is also stored in non-volatile memory, so scanning automatically resumes after power loss and restoration. In addition, for basic PC-based testing, the Data Logger software simplifies test configuration, data analysis and data management.
For automated testing and benchtop automation applications, the Agilent 34970A's 3 slots and 8 plug-in switch and control module options allow for easy configuration. The 6 1/2-digit internal DMM delivers the performance and functionality of a world-class DMM at a fraction of the space and cost. Software drivers are provided that support National Instruments LabVIEW, making it easy to integrate the 34970A into your system. Standard RS-232 and GPIB interfaces as well as SCPI programming language make this integration even easier. A three-year warranty is also standard, and just like our proprietary relay maintenance system, it automatically calculates and stores each individual switch closure to help you predict relay life and avoid production line downtime.
Agilent Data Acquisition Module Function Description and Selection
For test applications that do not require internal measurement from the 34970A, you can order a unit without the internal DMM. This provides an extremely low-cost solution for routing test signals into and out of the device under test and distributing signals to various instruments such as external DMMs, oscilloscopes, counters, power supplies, etc. In addition, you can add a DMM later if your requirements change.
The 34902A 16-channel high-speed multiplexer uses reed relays to achieve a scan rate of up to 250 channels per second. This module is ideal for high-efficiency automated test applications and high-speed data logging and monitoring tasks. The 34908A 40-channel single-ended multiplexer is suitable for applications requiring the highest density, such as battery testing, component testing and benchtop testing.
The 34903A 20-channel general-purpose switch module is suitable for powering on/off the device under test, controlling indicators and status lights, driving external relays that require large drive signals, and establishing conventional switch configurations. The 34904A is a 4×8 two-wire full crossbar matrix that provides the most flexible connection paths between the device under test and test equipment, allowing different instruments to connect to multiple points on the device under test simultaneously.
The 34905A and 34906A RF multiplexers provide broadband switching capability for high-frequency and pulse signals up to 2GHz, allowing you to build test signal paths between DUTs, generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, video amplifiers or receivers.
The 34907A multifunction module offers great flexibility for various sensing and control applications. It integrates two 8-bit digital input/output ports and two 100kHz ±12V analog outputs??all within a single module.
